Have all the Abduction Claims been Abducted?

Image
Greetings. Alien abduction. The details of the scenario are well known to the public, including many who have no interest whatsoever in the UFO phenomenon.  Whether one chooses the Hill abduction case from September of 1961, or the Pascagoula abduction case from October 11th of 1973, or the claims of Travis Walton about what he allegedly experienced November 5th of 1975, alien abduction is perhaps the hottest button aspect of the entire UFO issue. Alleged abductees, or experiencers as they are referred to today, are some of the most close-minded people on the planet. Despite an extreme lack of proof or evidence to support the anecdotal information, abductees are completely convinced that what they experienced was something extraterrestrial in nature, no matter what credible investigative efforts discover. Moving past the unconfirmed, one of the more fascinating points concerning the abduction enigma is the wanting of recent reports.  The UFO phenomenon seems to work in a cycli...

The Ross Williams Syndrome.

Image
Greetings. Conducting some cursory research used to be a commonplace occurrence. That particular ship has sailed into oblivion.  Mr. Ross Williams, if that is his real name, recently left behind the comment pictured above attached to a post on X (Twitter) which was made by Expanding Frontiers Research. The post was focused on the sentencing of Jan Harzan, the former International Director of the Mutual UFO Network, and recently, a convict.  The post as it appears on X reads as follows: https://x.com/EFResearch_/status/18172295951935 81879?t=qYPmlQG817Pa9_6LWECWQw&s=19 Immediately following the initial post on X, an additional post was made, one that addressed Mr. Williams' comment. It reads as follows: https://x.com/EFResearch_/status/1817255737158250746?t=qYPmlQG817Pa9_6LWECWQw&s=19 Now to be perfectly clear, Mr. Williams' comment was not directed at yours truly. However, upon reading the comment, I felt compelled to write up my thoughts on the "contribution"...

A Steamy Pile of Ordure, Courtesy of Ron James, Bob Spearing, and the Cult at MUFON.

Image
Greetings. Excrement, all for the purpose of financial gain. Such is the content being promoted by the Mutual UFO Network.  In the days before the recent MUFON Symposium, the organization made the following post on X (Twitter,) a statement that claimed that unknown material had been found, determined to be unknown by labs in Russia and by MUFON's own laboratory. Putting aside the fact that MUFON never provides information about its laboratory's staff, investigatory procedures, or specific geographic location, no documentation has surfaced to support the claims in question. No independent confirmation of the claims in question. Nothing at all. Just self-promotional talk.  Proper scientific consensus is arrived at through total transparency, and by the sharing of all data, content, and information with all other available scientific research facilities and personnel. Scientific consensus is not arrived at via promotional efforts, or through the selling of merchandise or subjecti...

Measured Discussions, Civility in Roswell.

Image
Greetings. Discussions about any unexplained issue, or undetermined question, should be measured and open to all reasonable possibilities. Such a dispassionate approach offers the chance for defensible answers, or at the very least, some level of consensus. The UFO subculture is not very proficient at such a logical and productive approach. Too many in the UFO arena are focused on their own belief structures, and are not open to other points of view or any information that contradicts their previously held positions. It may not have always been this way, but it is the neighborhood the UFO subculture currently resides in. All is not lost however.... Just last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend two panel discussions held on the Friday and Sunday of the Roswell UFO Festival. The panel was moderated by Peter Robbins, with the following researchers participating in the discussions; Frank Kimbler, Kevin D. Randle, Dennis Balthaser, and Donald R. Schmitt. The first part of each panel di...

Why are Some Acronyms so Difficult for the Public to Understand?

Image
Greetings. UFO. No other acronym has escaped firm understanding by the general public as the one meaning unidentified flying object. Even members of the UFO research community are guilty of using the acronym in an inappropriate manner, which can be as damaging as the usage common to the UFO subculture and the public at large. It goes without saying that the acronym UFO means unidentified flying object, and nothing else. Unfortunately, as the decades have passed, the acronym has come to be directly associated with anything and everything alien or extraterrestrial. Anyone on the planet is capable of witnessing a UFO, if they are inept enough at observing their immediate surroundings. UFOs can be any of the following; birds, stars, comets, clouds, drones, meteors, balloons, satellites, civilian aircraft, military aircraft, weather phenomena, bugs on a windshield, naturally occurring extraterrestrial phenomena, and of importance to the majority of the human race, alien spacecraft. The vast...

Intelligent Life in Roswell, with Nine Exceptions.

Image
Greetings. The observational skills displayed by many members of the human race can often be keen and quite impressive, however, some members of the human species have left their skills behind, never to be recovered.  Just this past Sunday, I had the opportunity to attend a lecture being given by Kevin D. Randle in Roswell, New Mexico. The lecture was scheduled for 10:00am local time and was to be held inside the North Library of the International UFO Museum and Research Center. As the time approached, I meandered to the library and tried the front doors, finding them locked. The were no other attendees in the vicinity, which was to be expected since I arrived 20 minutes early to ensure a front row seat.  As I patiently waited, other attendees began to arrive, all staying close to the library's front doors. In the course of the twenty minutes before the lecture's scheduled starting time, fully sixteen people gathered in the immediate area, all eagerly anticipating a dispassion...

Where Have all the Robust Cases Gone?

Image
Greetings. Any cursory examination of the UFO phenomenon reveals that the decades long history of the topic is peppered with robust historical cases. Some of the names are familiar; Roswell, Socorro, Cash/Landrum, Dexter/Hillsdale, etc.... Some of the robust cases are not well known to the UFO subculture but those cases are on the books, known to the most dedicated archivists, researchers, and investigators working on the UFO problem. However, in today's UFO world, we don't seem to have robust, multiple witness sighting reports coming in. Why? Where have all the robust cases gone? In decades past, civilian UFO organizations used to collect sighting reports, which was a logical and necessary course of action, since there were no other avenues available to witnesses. APRO (Aerial Phenomena Research Organization,) NICAP (National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena,) and MUFON (Mutual UFO Network,) among many other smaller operations, encouraged the reporting of UFO sight...

Looking for Intelligent Life on Earth? Don't Look to Mr. David McCash.

Image
Greetings. Mr. David McCash. A charter member of the human race, complete with a high level of illiteracy and incompetence.  Human beings can be intelligent and thoughtful creatures, capable of highly insightful commentary and logical consideration. However, a few members of our species don't seem to be able to measure up to such reasonable intellectual standards. Mr. David McCash is one such "special" mammal.  A short time ago, Mr. McCash responded to a blog posting written by my wife, Venus Renee Pullin, the President of the San Antonio Aerial Phenomena Research Organization. Her article focused on some recent promotional claims being made by the Mutual UFO Network, claims that are unfounded and completely unsubstantiated. Claims that are chock full of pure, steamy excrement. During the course of my wife's article, the importance of intense scientific examination and consideration is made clear, along with the importance of the peer review process and the transparen...

The Proof is Out There? Prove it MUFON!

Image
Greetings. The Mutual UFO Network. The most successful UFO investigative organization on the planet. If you believe that prior statement, I have a live Dimetrodon to sell you, with an accompaniment of Trilobites for your backyard pool. MUFON is the running joke of the UFO subculture, and that is saying quite a bit considering the current amateurish state of the UFO field, its religion, mythology, and legions of cult followers.  The "organization" continually produces a plethora of merchandise, all for the consumption of the suckers who follow along like a whipped teenage boy being led around by his nose or other unmentionables. Caps, mugs, videos, clothing, stickers, lanyards, mousepads and a whole slew of books and documentaries. So much merchandise that one might erroneously believe that Richard Dolan is running the organization's promotional operation.  The focus of this particular blog posting are the organization's documentaries. Whilst well produced and possessi...

Turns out the Bridges Aren't Burned After all, the SCU/MUFON Connection.

Image
Greetings. The Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies, formed only a few short years ago, touted itself as data-driven investigative organization, dedicated to a legitimate investigative examination of the UFO problem. The feeling at the time was that the SCU was an alternative to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) and the latter organization's penchant for selling merchandise, lack of legitimate investigations, and the shameless and sensationalized promotion of the UFO phenomenon. Led by Rich Hoffman and Robert Powell, two men who spent decades working for the Mutual UFO Network in various capacities, the SCU began holding conferences in 2019, their annual Scientific Conference on Anomalous Aerospace Phenomena (AAPC,) hosting guest speakers and presenting lectures on the UFO issue. All seemed quiet on the ufological front, but all was not what it seemed.  As it turns out, members of the SCU's Board of Directors and Founding Contributers are still members of MUFON, even active partic...

The Self-Perpetuating Ufological Echo Chamber.

Image
Greetings. The UFO subject is worthy of scientific examination. The late Carl Sagan said as much, and the topic remains worthy of legitimate scientific scrutiny. Such an exploratory effort, as with all other investigative exercises, will uncover different conclusions depending on the availability of tangible evidence, valid documentation, and accurate information. Some explanations will be mundane in nature, while others may be less so. Some explanations will confirm previously held beliefs and opinions, with many others being completely contrary to pre-conceived biases and positions. Such is the situation as it pertains to investigations, regardless of the subject matter being considered.  When it comes to the UFO phenomenon, the situation is substantially different, and I am trying to be kind (which goes against my nature.) Objective investigative examinations the UFO problem are rarely undertaken, with the number of credible archivists, researchers, and investigators being compa...
