Global Disclosure Day 2024, Let the Excrement Flow.

Image
Greetings. Global Disclosure Day 2024. Brought to you by the New Paradigm Institute. What a pile of crap.  "This first-of-its-kind event will feature notable speakers in the Disclosure movement, testimonials from local activist groups, and special videos about the latest information on UAP. We are witnessing a major sea change in the history of the UFO/UAP campaign. Up until very recently, the onus was on the movement to prove UFOs were real. Now, so much information has come out at such high levels of the US Government that the burden is now on those who tried to keep UFOs a secret to prove that they are NOT real. We are in a new time." Bullshit.  All the recent talk about UFOs from people who have served as public servants in the United States government is just that and nothing more, talk. What has the UFO subculture had for the past eight or so decades? Anecdotal stories. Talk, talk, and more talk. Nothing has changed at all, and there certainly has not been a "major...

Captain Vinther and his Unidentified 'Aircraft.'

Image
Greetings. An unidentified aircraft.  On the night of January 20th of 1951, multiple individuals reported an unidentified cigar-shaped straight-winged aircraft over Sioux City, Iowa. By the 22nd of January, newspapers nationwide had publicized the reports. The incident, which remains unexplained, continues to be controversial to this day.  Shortly after 8:30pm local time, the control tower in Sioux City made visual contact with an unidentified red light and estimated its altitude as approximately 8,000 feet. Captain Larry W. Vinther, piloting a Mid-Continent Airlines DC-3 bound for Omaha, took off and climbed to 4,000 feet in an effort to identify the mystery object/aircraft/unknown. After witnessing the unknown blink its lights, Capt. Vinther spoke into the radio, asking the pilot of the unidentified 'aircraft' to again blink its lights, with Vinther subsequently reporting that the lights blinked for a second time. Capt. Vinther could see that the 'aircraft' had a ...

McMinnville in 1950.

Image
Greetings. UFOs over Oregon, allegedly. The McMinnville UFO photographs were taken near McMinnville, Oregon, in the United States, on May 11th of 1950. The photos were reprinted in Life magazine and in newspapers all across the nation, and are often considered to be among the most famous, or infamous, ever taken of an unidentified flying object. Skeptics have concluded that the photos are a hoax, but many ufologists consistently argue that the photos are genuine, and show an unidentified object in the Oregon sky. Paul and Evelyn Trent, the couple who took the photographs, lived on their farm which was actually just outside of Sheridan, Oregon, approximately fourteen kilometers, or about nine miles southwest of McMinnville, which was the nearest larger town. According to astronomer William K. Hartmann's account, on the 11th of May in 1950 at 7:30pm local time, Evelyn Trent was walking back to her farmhouse after feeding the rabbits she and her husband owned. Before reaching the hous...

July 4th of 1947: Flight 105 and Their UFO Story.

Image
Greetings. A UFO story.  The sighting of an unidentified flying object by the crew of Flight 105 occurred on July 4th of 1947. Three crew members aboard a United Airlines flight reported seeing multiple unidentified flying objects in the skies over the Pacific Northwest. The incident was among at least 800 similar sightings reported in the United States within a few weeks during the summer of 1947, but the initial report made by professional pilots. The U.S. military ultimately attributed what the crew members saw to "ordinary aircraft, balloons, birds, or pure illusion," a conclusion that became more and more commonplace as the years passed. At 9:04pm, Mountain Standard Time, United Airlines Flight 105, served by a Douglas DC-3, took off from Boise, Idaho, for a flight bound for Pendleton, Oregon. As the aircraft departed, the Boise tower jokingly suggested to "be on the lookout for flying saucers," a joke which places the situation at the time on full display.  Ap...

William Albert Rhodes, the Subject of Character Assassinations Courtesy of the U.S. Air Force.

Image
Greetings. The Rhodes UFO photographs.  The photographs were reportedly taken on July 7th of 1947, by amateur inventor and astronomer William Albert Rhodes. The images were originally printed in The Arizona Republic newspaper on July 9th, along with Rhodes's own account of his sighting of the unidentified object. Published during the 1947 wave, the photographs were among the first showing an unidentified flying object. Despite the intervening seventy-plus years, they are still the subject of heated debate and controversy in UFO circles.  On June 24th of 1947, Kenneth Arnold reported that he had observed nine unidentified flying objects flying over Washington State. From his description of the unknowns, the press coined the term flying saucers. By June 27th, unidentified flying objects were being reported nationwide, with sightings beginning to occur in Arizona by the second week of July. The Arizona Republic published a story on July 7th about Tempe resident Francis Howell, wh...

The Goofiness of UFO Broadcasters: a Self-Inficted Embarrassment.

Image
Greetings. The UFO subculture, with its attached research community and entertainment industry, has consistently conducted itself in a less than advisable manner. The UFO subculture's ability to look goofy knows no bounds. Beyond the wearing of costumes during UFO themed events and festivals, the behavior and choices being made by some self-described researchers leave a lot to be desired. Instead of pursuing opportunities that give the UFO field some credibility, many choose to embrace and support individuals that harm the field with their childish, unfocused, and embarrassing on-the-air conduct. Many people in the UFO subculture that have a level of notoriety, some researchers, some celebrities, make ill-advised and counterproductive choices about who they support, and what shows they accept invitations to appear on. The damage done to the UFO field is immeasurable, and suggests that the people making the choices are thinking only of themselves and are not focused on the big pictu...

Contact with Extraterrestrials: An Invitation to Chaos and Embarrassing Behaviors.

Image
Greetings. Homo sapiens. Not the most peaceful or intellectually capable species now in existence on the Earth. Human behavior leaves something to be desired, especially when a perceived threat is at play.  The recent Coronavirus pandemic was a prime example, with millions and millions of individuals attacking store shelves in search of essential items; toilet paper, bottled water, underwear, and batteries, among other items. Any trip to the grocery store was an exercise in futility, with store shelves empty, and shoppers conducting themselves as if an invasion was about to occur. Lemmings are more logical in their approach to perceived threats than most humans, with their selfish, self-serving, "me first" mentality.  What if a species-changing event was about to happen, perhaps contact with a non-terrestrial civilization? In my humble opinion, the situation would be chaotic and unpredictable. Despite the fact that the majority of the human population seems comfortable with t...

Human Stupidity: The Gift that Keeps on Giving.

Image
Greetings. Human stupidity. The ability of humans to make completely unsubstantiated declarations is mind-boggling, at times a complete embarrassment. Oftentimes, some individuals manage to "kick it up" a notch, and I am trying very hard to be kind and civil, something which is against my nature.  Social media has provided a platform for the spreading of fake news, disinformation, and misinformation, not to mention statements that reek of stupidity, plain and simple. We all know this to be true, so let's move past the firmly established.  Ms. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a U.S. Representative from the state of Georgia, has been in office since 2020, winning reelection in 2022. She has made a habit of uttering statements that make one wonder what is going on, if anything, within the cramped confines of her cranium. A recent post I happened to come across on X (Twitter) made me laugh out loud, something I rarely if ever do. I subsequently felt compelled to write up an article ab...

Cash Landrum: Legal Action in the Lone Star State.

Image
Greetings. December of 1980. The Cash–Landrum Incident occurred in the vicinity of Houston, Texas in December of 1980. The three primary witnesses claimed that an unidentified flying object they encountered was responsible for causing health and property damages which resulted in civil court proceedings, though the case ended in a dismissal. On the evening of December 29th of 1980, Betty Cash, Vickie Landrum, and Vickie's grandson Colby Landrum were driving home to Dayton, Texas, in Cash's Oldsmobile Cutlass after enjoying dinner at a local restaurant. They later testified that at about 9:00pm local time, while driving on an isolated two-lane road surrounded by dense woods, they spotted an unidentified light above some trees nearby. At first they first thought it was an airplane approaching Houston Intercontinental Airport and gave it little notice, Houston Intercontinental being about 35 miles distant, or approximately 56 kilometers. A few minutes later, while on the same dark...

September of 1965: UFOs over New Hampshire.

Image
Greetings. The Incident at Exeter.  The Exeter, New Hampshire events from the 3rd of September in 1965 were a highly publicized series of UFO sightings that occurred approximately 5 miles (8 km) south of Exeter in the neighboring town of Kensington. Although multiple independent sightings had been made in the area by numerous witnesses in the weeks leading up to the incident in question, it was the events that transpired on September 3rd which eventually became the most well-known, involving a local teenager and two law enforcement officers.   On September 3rd, at approximately 2:00am local time, 18-year-old Norman Muscarello was hitchhiking to his home in Exeter along New Hampshire Route 150. Muscarello, a recent high school graduate, was a few short weeks away from leaving for service in the United States Navy. He had been visiting his girlfriend at her parents' home in nearby Amesbury, Massachusetts, a small community approximately 10 miles (16 km) southeast of Exeter. Sinc...
