Have all the Abduction Claims been Abducted?

Image
Greetings. Alien abduction. The details of the scenario are well known to the public, including many who have no interest whatsoever in the UFO phenomenon.  Whether one chooses the Hill abduction case from September of 1961, or the Pascagoula abduction case from October 11th of 1973, or the claims of Travis Walton about what he allegedly experienced November 5th of 1975, alien abduction is perhaps the hottest button aspect of the entire UFO issue. Alleged abductees, or experiencers as they are referred to today, are some of the most close-minded people on the planet. Despite an extreme lack of proof or evidence to support the anecdotal information, abductees are completely convinced that what they experienced was something extraterrestrial in nature, no matter what credible investigative efforts discover. Moving past the unconfirmed, one of the more fascinating points concerning the abduction enigma is the wanting of recent reports.  The UFO phenomenon seems to work in a cycli...

The Ross Williams Syndrome.

Image
Greetings. Conducting some cursory research used to be a commonplace occurrence. That particular ship has sailed into oblivion.  Mr. Ross Williams, if that is his real name, recently left behind the comment pictured above attached to a post on X (Twitter) which was made by Expanding Frontiers Research. The post was focused on the sentencing of Jan Harzan, the former International Director of the Mutual UFO Network, and recently, a convict.  The post as it appears on X reads as follows: https://x.com/EFResearch_/status/18172295951935 81879?t=qYPmlQG817Pa9_6LWECWQw&s=19 Immediately following the initial post on X, an additional post was made, one that addressed Mr. Williams' comment. It reads as follows: https://x.com/EFResearch_/status/1817255737158250746?t=qYPmlQG817Pa9_6LWECWQw&s=19 Now to be perfectly clear, Mr. Williams' comment was not directed at yours truly. However, upon reading the comment, I felt compelled to write up my thoughts on the "contribution"...

A Steamy Pile of Ordure, Courtesy of Ron James, Bob Spearing, and the Cult at MUFON.

Greetings. Excrement, all for the purpose of financial gain. Such is the content being promoted by the Mutual UFO Network.  In the days before the recent MUFON Symposium, the organization made the following post on X (Twitter,) a statement that claimed that unknown material had been found, determined to be unknown by labs in Russia and by MUFON's own laboratory. Putting aside the fact that MUFON never provides information about its laboratory's staff, investigatory procedures, or specific geographic location, no documentation has surfaced to support the claims in question. No independent confirmation of the claims in question. Nothing at all. Just self-promotional talk.  Proper scientific consensus is arrived at through total transparency, and by the sharing of all data, content, and information with all other available scientific research facilities and personnel. Scientific consensus is not arrived at via promotional efforts, or through the selling of merchandise or subjecti...

Measured Discussions, Civility in Roswell.

Image
Greetings. Discussions about any unexplained issue, or undetermined question, should be measured and open to all reasonable possibilities. Such a dispassionate approach offers the chance for defensible answers, or at the very least, some level of consensus. The UFO subculture is not very proficient at such a logical and productive approach. Too many in the UFO arena are focused on their own belief structures, and are not open to other points of view or any information that contradicts their previously held positions. It may not have always been this way, but it is the neighborhood the UFO subculture currently resides in. All is not lost however.... Just last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend two panel discussions held on the Friday and Sunday of the Roswell UFO Festival. The panel was moderated by Peter Robbins, with the following researchers participating in the discussions; Frank Kimbler, Kevin D. Randle, Dennis Balthaser, and Donald R. Schmitt. The first part of each panel di...

Why are Some Acronyms so Difficult for the Public to Understand?

Image
Greetings. UFO. No other acronym has escaped firm understanding by the general public as the one meaning unidentified flying object. Even members of the UFO research community are guilty of using the acronym in an inappropriate manner, which can be as damaging as the usage common to the UFO subculture and the public at large. It goes without saying that the acronym UFO means unidentified flying object, and nothing else. Unfortunately, as the decades have passed, the acronym has come to be directly associated with anything and everything alien or extraterrestrial. Anyone on the planet is capable of witnessing a UFO, if they are inept enough at observing their immediate surroundings. UFOs can be any of the following; birds, stars, comets, clouds, drones, meteors, balloons, satellites, civilian aircraft, military aircraft, weather phenomena, bugs on a windshield, naturally occurring extraterrestrial phenomena, and of importance to the majority of the human race, alien spacecraft. The vast...

Intelligent Life in Roswell, with Nine Exceptions.

Image
Greetings. The observational skills displayed by many members of the human race can often be keen and quite impressive, however, some members of the human species have left their skills behind, never to be recovered.  Just this past Sunday, I had the opportunity to attend a lecture being given by Kevin D. Randle in Roswell, New Mexico. The lecture was scheduled for 10:00am local time and was to be held inside the North Library of the International UFO Museum and Research Center. As the time approached, I meandered to the library and tried the front doors, finding them locked. The were no other attendees in the vicinity, which was to be expected since I arrived 20 minutes early to ensure a front row seat.  As I patiently waited, other attendees began to arrive, all staying close to the library's front doors. In the course of the twenty minutes before the lecture's scheduled starting time, fully sixteen people gathered in the immediate area, all eagerly anticipating a dispassion...
