The Objective Truth Hurts.

Greetings. The UFO subculture does not like statements that are supported by valid evidence, nor does it like objective and scientific analysis of data. The UFO subculture wants confirmation. Period.

Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick, the retired head of AARO (All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office) is a highly educated, credentialed, and accomplished public servant who served the United States with honor, integrity, and distinction. Dr. Kirkpatrick is just the kind of person to bring into the effort to consider, examine, and investigate the UFO problem. A "short" summary of Dr. Kirkpatrick's exemplary career in public service is available below:

Dr. Kirkpatrick recently made some statements about the UFO situation that deserve some commentary and candid consideration. A couple of quotes from his appearance on the "In the Room" with host Peter Bergen, available at https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/in-the-room-with-peter-bergen/id1685702585?i=1000642602121, are as follows:

"There is no evidence of extraterrestrials. There is no evidence of aliens, and there's no evidence of a government conspiracy."

"It's [the UFO subculture] almost like a religion. It is basically a religion."

Agreed. There is no tangible, physical evidence of alien visitation, just a monumental amount of anecdotal tales, stories, and testimonials. The belief in a government conspiracy is based on the exact same kind of content; tales, stories, and testimonials. As far as Dr. Kirkpatrick's statement about the religious aspect of the UFO topic, agreed once again. True believers have their collective minds made up, despite the lack of evidence to support their beliefs. In fact, when valid evidence is provided that casts doubt on a true believer's convictions, they double down, and maintain their lane of unsubstantiated belief. Such a course of action is incredibly close minded and illogical, but such is par for the course when it comes to the UFO subculture.

Dr. Kirkpatrick's recent piece in Scientific American speaks volumes about his experiences while in charge of AARO, and it is certainly worth a careful and attentive read. His writing is concise, measured, and to the point. The article is quite revealing, and portrays Dr. Kirkpatrick's efforts to keep AARO focused on the search for data and evidence, and far away from the sensationalized circus that is the UFO subculture. The piece is available at https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/heres-what-i-learned-as-the-u-s-governments-ufo-hunter/.

My conclusion? The UFO subculture does not want answers to the UFO problem, and like all religions, faith is all the UFO genre has as a foundation. No proof, no evidence, just blind faith. Not good enough. Provide the proof, put up or shut up.

Thank you for your time, interest, and consideration.
