Facebook's Censorship Efforts.

Greetings. Social media, specifically Facebook, used to be a place where people could share ideas, content, and opinions. Times have changed.

In recent years, Facebook has begun to police what is being shared on the platform. Whilst the effort to keep an eye on potential fake news, disinformation, and misinformation is commendable, it can be a slippery slope. Such an effort, when applied too energetically, can infringe on personal freedoms, freedom of speech in this case. It becomes more about censorship to be perfectly honest, which is akin to living in North Korea or the old Soviet Union. In addition, it is not really clear who or what is making the decisions on what is or is not acceptable in Facebook's opinion.

Facebook was once a place where people could share content to the various groups contained within the platform, but now that is being controlled. Not just the quality, but the quantity. My wife, Venus Renee Pullin, who is the President of the San Antonio Aerial Phenomena Research Organization, has consistently come across the problem in the course of sharing her research work. She has been unable to share her work on very many groups, and when she is able to share her work, her account is frozen by Facebook, for reasons that are unsupported. It seems that Facebook is wanting us to use their platform, but not when it goes against "community standards," whatever the hell that means.

I can understand keeping lewd, racist, sexist, and antisemitic content off the platform, but Facebook has gotten to a point where they are far too sensitive to the issues. Sensitive to the point that one cannot write up a straightforward expose on the platform without fearing that it might get deleted, or that one's account might get frozen or worse yet, taken down. The fact that I an writing this blog posting on Blogger instead of Facebook proves my point beyond a shadow of a doubt. I have to post my more blunt and grumpy writings here, keeping my thoughts off of Facebook. Ridiculous.

Seems the issue of censorship is misunderstood by Facebook.

Seems the right of free speech is not fully embraced by Facebook.

A horrible and disconcerting situation to say the very least.

I'll be sharing this blog posting on my blogpage on Facebook, available at https://www.facebook.com/uforealahistoricalreview. Let's see what happens.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
