Intellectual Dishonesty in the UFO Subculture.

Greetings. 

Human beings are biased, imperfect mammals. Each and every one of us has a set of personal beliefs, opinions, and positions that are often subjective and immovable, no matter what information comes to our attention. No matter the topic or subject matter being considered, we are all guilty, to greater or lesser degrees. 

Occasionally, only occasionally, I happen to come across a statement that stands out, that defeats the echo chamber that is majority of the UFO subculture. Unfortunately, in this particular case, the statement in question displays the intellectual dishonesty which can often poison the effort to interact with others, regardless of the topic being taken under consideration. 

"Now, all of a sudden, critical thinking and presenting evidence are out the window for debunkers."

Now, anyone who has even a passing interest in the UFO phenomenon is, or should be, well aware of the lack of physical, irrefutable evidence to support the vast amount of anecdotal information that has been collected for the past few decades. Additionally, the critical thinking skills of many a UFO person are often wanting, or totally nonexistent. The problem (disease) often infects true believers and cool-headed researchers alike, which has held back the entire UFO subculture since the earliest days of the flying saucers. 

The aforementioned quoted statement makes a highly biased declaration about so-called debunkers, which are defined in UFO circles as anyone who has a single skeptical bone in their body. The statement suggests that true believers are possessing of critical thinking skills, and have provided evidence to corroborate their claims. Nobody has provided any tangible evidence, nobody. Additionally, true believers are some of the most close-minded people on the planet. They have their minds made up, and everything is alien, everything is anomalous, everything is extraterrestrial. Such a biased series of declarations are embarrassing and could not be more erroneous.

Hitchens' Razor: Kyptonite for the Fringe Communities.

Greetings. Hitchens' Razor. Hitchens' razor is an epistemological razor that serves as a general rule for rejecting certain knowledge claims. The razor states: "What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence." The razor is credited to author, critic, and journalist Christopher Eric Hitchens. It declares that the burden of proof regarding a claim lies squarely with the individual making the claim. If this burden is not satisfied, then the claim is deemed to be unfounded, and its opponents need not argue further in order to dismiss it. Hitchens used the phrase specifically in the context of refuting religious belief. Greetings. Where are all the high quality UFO photographs? In previous decades, UFO investigators were constantly on the search for physical evidence to corroborate witness testimonials. The late Ted Phillips looked for and examined physical trace cases. The late Dr. J.
