Nancy Mace: Ambassador of Foolishness.
Greetings. The UFO subculture has a new ambassador, an ambassador of foolishness, Ms. Nancy Mace.
Nancy Mace is the United States representative for South Carolina's 1st congressional district, in office since 2021. A member of the Republican Party, Mace, in 1999, became the first woman to graduate from the Corps of Cadets program at The Citadel. From 2018 to 2020, she represented the 99th district in the South Carolina House of Representatives. In 2020, Mace was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, becoming the first Republican woman elected to Congress from South Carolina. Mace worked for Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, but strongly condemned his actions surrounding the January 6th attacks on the U.S. Capitol. Mace asserted that Trump's legacy had been "wiped out" and that he should be held "accountable" for his actions. As with many politicians, from both sides of the isle, she soon lost her balls and ultimately voted against impeaching him. Mace endorsed Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential primary.
None of Mace's previous actions in the political arena suggested that she would have anything to do with the UFO topic or its attached subculture, but that has changed in recent years. On November 13th of this calendar year, Mace chaired a congressional hearing on UFOs (I refuse to use the other acronym,) and subsequently made a complete fool out of herself, promoting the hearings as if they were historically important, groundbreaking, and a significant step in a forward direction towards "disclosure" and transparency, which of course they are not.
The UFO field has always struggled mightily to gain respect and credibility in the eyes of the general public, and most importantly, the scientific community. When scientists, politicians, and other people of some notoriety gingerly step foot into the UFO jungle, and a self-destructive jungle it certainly is, they place their own personal and professional reputations in some jeopardy. Unfortunately, in some cases, they further damage the UFO subculture, as a result of their public activities and statements. Ms. Mace is just the latest such person, posting images on X (Twitter,) promoting her involvement, and lending no credibility to the hearings taking place (not that they had any to begin with.) Mace's actions further demonstrate that the UFO activities in Washington are a ufological circus, complete with a set of clowns named Fox, Kean, Mace, Knapp, Corbell, Grusch, and Burchett, among many others that escape my admittedly unreliable memory.
To top it all off, Mace ended up posting advertisements selling t-shirts to celebrate the event. T-shirts, merchandise, the sort of crap that permeates the UFO world. She should join the SCU or MUFON, or schedule some appearances on Rich Giordano's GUFON Radio, Dave Scott's Spaced Out Radio, or Jimmy Church's Fade to Black. She would fit in quite nicely.
Nancy Mace. The UFO subculture's ambassador of foolishness. What a complete embarrassment.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
