The Church of Jimmy, Fully Prepared to Let the Dick Fly.
Greetings. Interactions within the UFO subculture can be cordial and strictly professional. Can be, but are such interactions always so? Sadly, no. A recent comment left behind by Jimmy Church is one such unfortunate example.
During the course of my last blog posting, I made comments about the professional investigative integrity of Richard Dolan and Daniel Alan Jones. Professional being the operative word. I did not, nor would I, ever make comments about someone's personal life or personal integrity, for such rhetoric is clearly out of bounds and totally uncalled for. Nor will I engage in character assassination or immature name-calling. We are all supposed to be adults here, but that particular memo has not been read and understood by certain people, in this case, Mr. Jimmy Church.
Mr. Church's comment reads as follows, and I quote: "Nobody gives a shit, William. People, critics, skeptics, who take cracks at anyone for trying to do research or look into it, a subject, any subject, is the problem with this world. Be positive, don’t be a dick. You’ll be better for it. Your article is self-serving, your comment ‘thank you for posting’ is self-serving and smug… you just want your name out there so you can feel good about your lonely life.
Leave the house.
Walk a dog.
Stroll in the sunshine.
Maybe, just maybe, you might smile.
It’s a game changer."
Now to be perfectly clear, I will not respond in kind to such a comment, nor will I sink to that loathsome level of personal conduct. If Mr. Church actually took the time to read my article, he would have noticed that I did not make any personal comments about either Mr. Dolan or Mr. Jones. I have met Daniel Alan Jones on a few occasions, and have found him to be a polite, articulate, and intelligent person. I strongly disagree with his research methods, but my opinions have absolutely nothing to do with him as a person. Evidently Mr. Church completely missed that particular point.
I have never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Church in person, nor have I ever interacted with him in any way, shape, or form. I can only assume that Mr. Church feels that I am unhappy in life, that I am a lonely person, and that I don't smile. What his comment did make crystal clear is that professional criticism is not considered appropriate in UFO circles; all must be positive, and anything less ends up making the critical person, in Mr. Church's opinion, a dick.
My previous article which Mr. Church so embarrassingly misinterpreted, is available at https://williamgpullin.blogspot.com/2024/11/why-do-hoaxes-never-die.html
Thank you for your time and consideration.
