Mr. Hopkins, Where is the Evidence?
Greetings. The abduction enigma. For many people, the term abduction brings to mind a eerily familiar set of events, with the details well-known to the UFO subculture, and of note, to the general public.
"Everything I have learned in twenty years of research into the UFO abduction phenomenon leads me to conclude that the aliens' central purpose is not to teach us about taking better care of the environment. Instead, all of the evidence points to their being here to carry out a complex breeding experiment in which they seem to be working to create a hybrid species, a mix of human and alien characteristics. A careful reading of the various witnesses' accounts suggests that here, as in many earlier cases, reproductive issues appear far more frequently than alien ecological concerns."
The above quote is from Budd Hopkins' 1996 book entitled "Witnessed: The True Story of the Brooklyn Bridge UFO Abductions." Elliot Budd Hopkins (1931-2011) was an author, artist, and ufologist, and may have been the most prominent researcher of the abduction enigma. When I first read Mr. Hopkins' book, which I found to be a well constructed piece of UFO literature, one question came to mind: Where is the evidence? I still have that question in my old cranium, unanswered to this day.
There are literally hundreds of abduction cases on the books, with some cases having attained legendary status. The UFO subculture wholeheartedly embraces the theory of alien abduction, and vigorously pushes back against other more likely, mundane, and reasonable possibilities. Such was the situation during Mr. Hopkins' heyday, and such is the situation now in 2024. However, my question remains unanswered. Where is the evidence? Not anecdotal testimonials, not information gathered from hypnotic regression sessions, not subjective opinions or declarations about the anecdotal. Physical, tangible evidence which can be examined and scrutinized by multiple, independent researchers, including people who have no interest in the UFO problem.
I have yet to come across a medical report or a scientific summary which describes in detail, a thorough examination of such evidence. I have not been able to locate any such documentation, paperwork which would go a long, long way towards legitimizing the abduction question, and the "work" of abduction researchers like Mr. Hopkins, the late John Mack, Peter Robbins, and David Jacobs. Transparency and openness would go a long way, but all we have are researchers' claims and witnesses' stories, nothing tangible, nothing of substance. Sounds familiar doesn't it?
As far as my own thoughts on the abduction question, I hold the position that alien abductions have indeed taken place, but only on a few, incredibly rare occasions. However, I have no proof or evidence to support my opinion, so my thoughts are of no consequence, none whatsoever.
Some evidence would be nice, but alas....
Thank you for your time and consideration.
