Hypocritical Mudslinging.

Greetings. Neil deGrasse Tyson. The gentleman is not the scientist of choice for the UFO subculture, and that is being kind.

Mr. Tyson is consistently the target of personal and hypocritical comments, opinions that speak volumes about the people casting them. A few of the most "interesting" are as follows, all gathered from a recent post on X, formerly known as Twitter:

Kent Reynolds says "Tyson is a joke."

Dex says "I can't stand this dude."

⚡️um, what? says "NDT is an arrogant tool."

The Last MoFaux says "Aliens will have to probe Tyson before he'll consider the evidence."

Sasha says "I don't like his cocky attitude."

jobojo says "is he still relevant? What are his scientific success's?"

Mike Colangelo, the original poster, also points out that Mr. Tyson is promoting his 16th book.

Now I won't make any observations about the spelling, construction, and punctuation of the aforementioned comments, for they speak for themselves, but the feelings being conveyed are deserving of some commentary. The person who made the initial post seemed to take issue with Mr. Tyson's effort to promote his newest book, his 16th. Interesting, considering that UFO authors, "researchers," and personalities do the exact same thing all the time, with Nick Redfern turning out books like its going out of style. Talk about hypocritical. The rest of the comments are personal in nature, and embarrassingly amateurish, which is par for the course for the UFO subculture. Some people are seemingly unable or unwilling to keep their comments focused on the issues being discussed, and far away from any sort of character assassinations. Perhaps it is time for the UFO subculture to grow up and graduate to adulthood.

Am I guilty of calling people out by name? Absolutely, and I will continue to do so as long as it is productive and addresses important issues. However, I always keep my thoughts measured and objective, free of name-calling and character assassinations. It should never be personal, it should always be professional. I challenge anyone reading this blog posting to find an example of such out of bounds behavior on my part.

Back to the subject matter at hand, if Mr. Tyson held opposing views to what his current opinions are, he would be readily embraced by the UFO subculture, with open arms and open legs. That goes without saying. If the UFO subculture and research community would provide evidence for Mr. Tyson to examine, perhaps his thoughts on the UFO issue would change, but that never happens, because there is no tangible evidence, just anecdotal stories.

To be perfectly clear, I am not attempting to defend Mr. Tyson's honor. I have no horse in the UFO race, but I am commenting on the abhorrent behavior of some members of the UFO subculture. Such behaviors are becoming far more commonplace in today's society, and that has to be troubling. Such behaviors are counterproductive and keep us spinning our collective wheels, keeping us firmly in place on the road to nowhere. We can all improve our personal and professional approaches, yours truly included.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
